I believe he was stating one of two things. Either, he felt that the piano concertos listed are the only ones to choose from, which would be horrid, as you're then just picking from the mainstream concertos.
Either that or he doesn't like piano concertos.
My personal favorite is the Chopin F minor as of late..

1 - Mozart No.20 in d minor K466
2 - Prokofiev No.2 in G minor Op.16
3 - Rachmaninoff No.3 in D minor, Op.30
4 - Brahms No.2 in B flat major, Op.83
5 - Beethoven No.4 in G major Op.58

Although the order can be changed Smiley

These would at least be my favourite piano concertos by their respective composers with the exception of the first, which for me would have to be no. 21 in C minor K491 - so much so, in fact, that if I could only ever listen to one Mozart piano concerto during the rest of my life it would without question be that one; beyond that, however, naming one';s "favourite piano concertos" would seem to be of about as much use and about as enlightening as contributing to the incessant and wearisome "hardest piece" type threads...

Anyway, who's "Tcahikovsky"?...

Best,

Hi,

my favourite piano concertos are:

1 - Saint-Saens g-minor
2 - Chopin e-minor
3 - Chopin f-minor
4 - Beethoven, B-flat-major
5 - Mozart, B-flat-major K 450

But I also like the piano-version(s) of Beethoven's violin concerto, and i like the Grieg-concerto, too.

Greetings, 8_octaves

Number one for me seldom changes.
Kabalevsky 3, for a definitive recording see Gilels
2nd place
This quirky thing

The others usually battle it out or remaining spots.  Pretty much the same players ( Bortkiewicz 1, Kosenko usually flip flop around 3rd place) my 4th and 5th place usually vary depending how I feel .

I would slot my 6th place or honorable mentions with a draw for Rosza
