J Strauss Frühlingsstimmen for 4 hands
on: March 01, 2015, 07:37:57 PM
Has anyone come across a decent piano duet version of 'Frühlingsstimmen' (Voices of Spring), the waltz by J Strauss the younger?

I don't have it, but the following version should exist somewhere:

Strauss, Johann, Op. 410. Frühlingsstimmen. Walzer f. Pfte zu 4 Hdn. Hamburg, Cranz Mk 2,30.
    Juli 1883.

As we can see, the - or a -  piano-four-hands version was announced (or recorded, because published) in The Hofmeister Monatsberichte of Juli 1883.

Here is the data I found:

Frühlingsstimmen ; Frühlingsstimmen / Arr. ; Walzer
Strauss, Johann
1883
Hamburg u.a. ; Cranz u.a. ; ca. 1883 ; 17 S.
 Für Piano zu 4 Händen

It's available via libraries, ( e.g: in the Bavarian State library, Munich ), but I recommend to look for it in the Web, in bookstores for antique books and music etc., may be you should try a search there, too.

Let me please add the following: I just saw a hint on scorser.

A 4 handed version of the Frühlingsstimmen-Waltz can be found in this collection, which can be bought easily:

8_octaves wins Pianostreet for today! Many thanks for that. Just what's needed - it's not a fancy transcription at all but it's only going to be 'audience coming in music' so it will do just fine. Purchased and downloaded already.
