Today's improvisation (concluding few minutes)
on: March 10, 2015, 09:05:38 AM
I forget what I play very quickly. On first listening I thought this one a bit crass, with ideas crowding relentlessly in on its two principal motifs. There are one or two brief patches I don't much like but it isn't as bad as I first thought. At least it is a departure from the florid finger work which has tended to dominate since the recovery of my technique last year. The constant invention of new haptic movements every day, even at the silent practice clavier, seems to create fresh musical material at the piano later on. I don't fully understand why this works, but it also stops me getting into ruts involving how I use scales and other traditional subsets.
