I've heard more offensive remarks, and more inaccurate ones too. Whoever said that is just taking a very extreme side of a continuum of thought. Some play in a absolutely liberal manner and other really considered and structured. I think that exact remark that you quote is just a little loud and self aggrandizing, which is easy to dislike.

Fair point. He also somewhat implied that expression doesn't exist outside notes and rhythm ( ???)... so very apparent by his playing  ::)
