I thought it was an interesting idea, but really didn't have more to say than that. Surprised it didn't get better response.

But no ideas on how to organize it?  I don't actually want to draw the requests in front of everybody.  That's sort of circus fare.  But there's really no time to do it before.  That would mean starting a good 20" late.  And putting the name of the requestee?  Come on "j"!  You're always so brilliant in your responses.  In fact, if you must know, you were the one i was hoping would answer!

Completely out of my experience here I'm afraid.

Could you just have everyone put their two favourites in a hat or something at the start and then draw them out? The probability would reflect the popularity and you could just ignore the duplicates that came out. You'd need to think about your list, though - it would be a disaster if everyone picked the same two.

Yes, this is more problematic than i thought.  But you're right in one thing.  List more than one tune.  That way i'm sure to get beyond the gershwin medley.
