This is so cool!!!

I was invited to join a band last week and I was told they are looking for a keyboardist to play and sound a lot like Right (Keyboardist in Pink Floyd).
So I went to my favorite music store and looked for a keyboard that would emulate the sound they are looking for. Also some sheet music to help me learn.
I found one! A Yamaha MOTIF XF8 Workstation Synth. Wow! Really nice but sort of pricey.
With some fooling around through different amps the best closes sound was through a Leslie Studio 12 which I already have. Great! Keeps me from also buying a new amp.
I'll let you all know how it goes...

hey that is really cool!!!  8)  Very exciting!  post a clip from your first gig so we can watch you play that MOTIF--that is a badass workstation.

I would be interested to know if you found any sheet music other then the hal leonard like arrangements they sell at guitar center---those are pretty useless except maybe as a reference

Is this a PF tribute band?   usually to get that "just like the record" sound, you end up having to transcribe it  yourself, (I was in a Steely Dan tribute band.)  Wow, did I ever learn a lot by doing that though -- sharpened my ears and gave me a lot of confidence, too.   There's something just too cool about being in a rock band...lol
