Although I said it doesn't have to be Chopin, I'm still in love with the E flat minor polonaise, which I'm listening to right now-

The Scriabin polonaise is very dark and handsome indeed.
Beethoven-Alkan, concerto 3
Faure barcarolle 10
Mozart-Stradal, symphony 40

Played the op. 26, and despite a few tricky parts, it's actually way easier than it sounds (by no means am I calling it easy). As for my favorite, I don't think I really have one. It's not a form I pay much attention to but if I had to pick a few it'd be Chopin's op. 22, 44, 61, and the one from Scriabin. The "a la polacca" section from his op. 2 (chop) is also a personal favorite. It may not count as its own piece but it is a pretty fun polonaise like variation.

Not a fan of the style I'm general. But the ones I like most are most def not chopin.  If when I next play/learn or listen it's op8 ( 1 and 2) by Mikuli

Carl Mikuli? He doesn't have his music on IMSLP, strangely.

Also, i'll make a case for the Chopin f sharp minor polonaise. Or at least the young Pogorelich does, if you have not go see his Chopin competition performance of it.

There are two non-piano pieces there, but it seems one of their more glaring omissions generally. A bit of a bugger to track down (as his Freddy editions tend to obscure searching) but well worth a look.

Lovely piece, but why not a Chopin? I respect your opinion and everything, I'm just curious, as you've expressed your dislike for the polonaises in other topics.

well worth it , I am always searching and and tracking down, the music is generally superb, and at the very least, pretty fantastic.  He was also ahead of his time doing some of what Bartok would eventually do w/ regard to local idioms of music, and penning it down using a western system. His nationality is hotly debated, 'everyone claims him' but he is most likely more Ukranian than anything else.

there used to by yt uploads of n1 and n2 but the channel was removed for copyright viols.  I have the scores somewhere, no idea where i got them.

here are some mazurkas, scherzino and ballade. As I do not recall where/how I got the poloni's I am hesitant to post as I may need permission to do so dep. on my source. looking into this

More the form itself than Freddy himself in this case. Too rumpity-bum-bump for my tastes. Sousa seems perfect for it.

I love this and rather fancy the pianist as well.

Used to have this in my repertoire.

Hmm. Can't say I agree, though I do think the polonaises can be interpreted in a manner that makes one want to shoot themselves.

What a beautiful piece. I would have never been able to find this on my own. First time I have heard of this composer. Simply beautiful.

The Military one isn't bad. I actually just finished it awhile ago, come to think of it.
No, if you were being stereotypical Chopin lover, you'd have gone with the Heroic XD

I looked on my computer, I have listened to this 87 times this week... yikes... I guess this is at the top of the list for me now. I love the middle section.
