Old Question with a New Twist
on: April 30, 2015, 05:09:58 AM
Hi, first post but long time lurker. I know that whether it is worth an adult trying to learn the piano is frequently asked on here. I don't want to ask that but something along those lines. I learned as a child and got up to grade 6  AMEB. I  stopped playing for a few years, then taught myself to improvise. I regularly play for my local church and have been playing in bands off and on for the last ten years. However I am seriously considering lessons as I would like to learn some more classical music. Is it possible for me to improve in my classical learning. I would like to reach grade 8 AMEB or would I be too stuck in my habits and ways to succeed?
Works in Progress:
Adagio Cantabile - Beethoven
Adagio in G Minor - Giazotto
Sabre Dance - Khachaturian

Huh? Of course it is possible, just do it ... I have met a lot of people who are +50, +60 and ++60 who start to learn to play classical piano or rebound as piano students after many years.

Whether you think you can, or you think you cannot, you are right, you know ...
