Practice Tip
on: May 01, 2015, 06:48:07 AM
When I practice I tend to want to perfect a section before I go on to the next one. Is this the best way to do it or is it better to practice the whole thing through slowly each time and slowly work the tempo up to a reasonable speed? Also this week I cut the piece I am learning up into one or two bars and put them in an envelope then draw one out each day and concentrate on that little section for that day. Is this effective? Thanks.

Sometimes there is only so much you can do on one day to perfect a section. The real gains you will see are the day after. How much you can and should do depends on individual skills. So try to see how much you should do, and check the next day how much you have learned
