Hi Everyone,

I am wondering if anyone here has given this engraving programme a try.

p.s. - Maybe with some experience eventually one can get very high quality results with less effort than must be used with other programmes. I am wondering if anyone here has given it a try and found this to be true.

I think Finale is better imo.

Hi senanserat,

Finale is what I use, and it seems to be good enough although figuring out the "solutions" to some things, and then implementing those solutions, can be a bit time consuming.

I don't know if I could adapt to notating music by entering lines of code into a box.  But I do think the LilyPond results are better as the programme is very smart.  There are books on hand engraving and what to do in all instances for an optimal result to the eye - LilyPond has most of that knowledge built in, but Finale seems to just have a few algorithms for such things built in.

I've been using the 2014 version for awhile now, and it really has some improvements compared to older releases, in my case I am yet to compose much so it suits my needs just right.

I'd say this program is for those more well versed in composition and looking for something beyond the vanilla flavour of finale and its peers.
