should I be worried?
on: May 09, 2015, 05:18:45 PM
Hi Everyone,

I give this matter regular thought.  I do have a U.S. passport, yet if Sweden is attacked, somehow I don't think there will be many commercial flights at the time in and out of Arlanda airport, and the attackers (if they have any brains) surely would achieve a lock down on the sole connecting bridge between Sweden and Denmark.

Worsening matters, all of Stockholm is on islands . . . so just seize a small number of bridges irretrievably, and destroy some specific military targets, and the attacker's task may be done.

Maybe I need to get an all black wet suit, some underwater diving gear and a black kayak?

Help!!!!!

Mvh,
Michael

Why would anyone attack Sweden?  ;D

I'm closer to Russia and I am not worried at all :)

The current right wing concervative movement in Europe is trying to scare everyone with Russia just to promote NATO. It is true that Russia does not like what has happened in the former Soviet area (which they think belong to there sphere of interest), but it has  absolutely nothing to gain from the Scandinavian countries. Yes, their planes may make some provoking moves and their subs may swim a bit close occasionally, but they've done that all the time...

I know quite a few swedish international students and they all go bonkers over Russia. idk why. history? Few months back they were all going crazy over some submarine that wasn't even there. Jesus.

And yeah, like Outin said.Typical western fear mongering. Remember when the UN/US lied about Gaddafi murdering and massacring his own people in order to justify an intervention/invasion? Or when they lied about Sadaam having WMds? Lol, Russia's one of the two countries in the permanent security council that actually has the balls to says *** you to the UN.

Rest of Europe just sits back and lets UK/France/US command them like a bunch of lap dogs.

Not much history there...or maybe they are still pissed about having to hand over the Finns to Russia some 200 years ago?  ;D

Sweden has not been involved in a real war for for a VERY long time...It would probably be the last country in Europe to get into one (together with Iceland I guess...). Something involved with terrorism is more likely to happen at some point though...

Sweden is already invided by american trash culture and the swedes really really love it! Swedes are one of the most americanized (and the most stupid people..think of the Piza report) McDonalds Coca cola people in the world. So, from a intellectual and culturural perspective, whats wrong whith little bit Russian impact? -Rachmaninov and Tjajkovskij instead of Springsteen and Britney Spears?

True. Instead Sweden have put all of their intellectual efforts into creating and selling weapons all over the world. Sweden has one of the highest trade in weapons per capita in the world. When you make money by selling weapons to the Saudis who in turn fund, encourage, and support radical extremists in the middle east you don't really have the right to complain about terrorism.

If you're going to make money off of clusterfcks then you might as well keep yourselves out of it. Yet instead they'd rather keep open borders in order to keep their false pretense of a humanitarian country.

"Where do these militants from poor countries get all these weapons from? From Saudi/US/UK/Sweden/Israel, and bits and pieces from the rest of the Western world."

All false pretenses of civility, and human rights. We make money off of exploiting people and wars. The Western world is a huge pile of bundling hypocrisy.

Of course it is. And the beauty of the system is that most people either do not realize or do not care. Hypocrisy seems to be one of the most central parts of both human nature and social systems  :P

At the risk of being somewhat out of sync here... may I humbly submit that neither Russia nor China are exactly great examples of peaceful coexistence?

There is an old English saying about the pot calling the kettle black.  There is an even older saying regarding removing the beam in one's own eye before trying to remove the mote in another's.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all the responses.  The consensus seems to be for me not to worry about it.  I do think about it though, nonetheless.

I'll at least be making sure my U.S. passport stays up to date!

Michael

There is always something to worry about ..... :'(

In our side of the world the Chinese have claimed the whole South China Sea and started
converting coral reefs into airfields to threaten and bully its much smaller and weaker neighbors. All of these land-grabbing activity are backed up by China's military might and all are occurring within the 200 mile economic zone of our country.

Seeing this as a golden opportunity, the Americans are on the verge of convincing the Philippine government to allow them again, land for military bases .... in order to, as they say, "discourage and limit Chinese incursions".  Meanwhile, any US military base in our country would definitely make us targets of atom bomb laden missiles from the North Korea ......

All of these will make your worries, child's play! ;D  :o :'(
