Hi a99966613,

You need to be realistic with the time available.  If you are conservatory material then this will be audible whether you play Chopin or Mozart [and I know, this is for what has to be a specifically romantic repertoire selection, the point though still is the same].

Listen to how Moriz Rosenthal plays Chopin's Op. 64 No. 2 . . .
. . . this is just to show that there is a lot to the music, and much that needs significant technique to express . . . and professors can hear when a pianist is really speaking versus just reciting a score accompanist style.

Michael

Hi a99966613,

What I am saying is that these piano professors are around the top young technicians day after day.  Making a satisfactory impression on them is not easy no matter what repertoire is involved for one of the four selections, and you say that you need to be realistic about the time available.

What are your other three selections, by the way?

Maybe you've mentioned them already in another thread.  Forgive me if I have forgotten.

Mvh,
Michael

A work by Bach, excluding the two-part inventions.
There were no idea

A complete sonata by Haydn, Mozart, or Beethoven .
Beethoven piano sonata no.8 op13(Has decided to , and Final movement has not yet completed)

A Romantic work by Chopin, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms, or Liszt.
Chopin Op 64. No 2 (Not yet decided)

A work by a 20th or 21st-century composer.
I want Select Rachmaninoff Prelude in g minor op. 23  ,But some people suggested that I do not choose it

Hi a99966613,

To get into a music school, a teacher would be a good investment.  What school are you applying to, if you don't mind me asking?

Hi a99966613,

Best of luck with it!  A teacher, who can see and hear you playing in person, should be able to advise you best on what and how to prepare for this.
