when did dwarves stop wearing their axe

I mean, it's hard to tell otherwise. How do I know if it's just a  large gnome or otherwise?

Another problems that could have been easily solved if the eagles were a little more cooperative.

they've been known to collaborate w/ dwarves in the past , anything is still possible i suppose
