one of my favorite, the fugue is so clever and enjoyable to play. the prelude is in a gentle three-four time with arpeggiated harmony, and is in a sort of modal D major. the tunes are all charming and beautiful, and yet somehow a feeling of poignancy or nostalgia tempers the whole thing.
although the fugue is tricky, i think it can probably be classified as one of the easier ones to play. i would be curious to see someone make an order of difficulty for the shsotakovich, as they do for WTC or chopin etudes, beethoven sonatas, etc.
hope you enjoy, again it was recorded on a half-defunct microphone that i had to add a stereo track to and amplify artificially. whatever!
