New Sonata or Piano Concerto
on: June 01, 2015, 07:49:28 PM
Hey,

I just finished Beethoven's Sonata Op. 10 No. 2 (n.6) and I would like a recommendation of a new sonata or a piano concerto... I don't want it to be a huge jump in terms of difficulty. Personally, i like romantic compositions, passionate ones ;) thank you ;)

Based on limited info, I think it is fine for you to explore a piano concerto for leisure.  However, better go for more piano solo works, whether sonatas or suites or other large works, for music learning and technique enhancement.

Ferruccio Busoni's Piano Sonata Op. 20a.  The slow movement, in particular, is extraordinary.

Hi Joaosousa,

I think that maybe the first movement would benefit from some editing. ;)

The sonata is beautiful but the problem is that it hasn't a climax.. But it's a beautiful piece! ;)

Hi Joaosousa,

If there weren't more than a few earth shaking climaxes in the recording of Ferruccio Busoni's Anton Rubinstein inspired piano sonata, then the problem was with how it was being played.

I think you should play Chopin's Sonata 2. Sonata 2 isn't actually that hard. I find the first movement easier than the rest, mostly I can't play six-flats. I can't decide what you're going to play, but this is a suggestion, and may the Chopin be with you.
I made an account and hadn't used it in a year. Welcome back, kevon.
