S. Prokofiev - Piano Concerto No 2, Op 16, 1st mvt
on: June 03, 2015, 04:49:10 AM
Hi,
My son is preparing the final round of the Canadian Music Competition.
Could you please give some advice for this recording? Especially for the interpretation.
Thank you very much!

hi leunghb
i thought that was incredible and if he plays like that i think he puts himself in a good position to win
if he is from quebec even better chance of winning lol
a lot of practice and well thought out ideas make this a magnificent performance imo
one suggestion i was going to make was to take more time about half a measure before 'colossale' but then looked at the score and noticed prokofiev writes 'a tempo' half a measure before the colossale so nvm!
fantastic work, great 2nd pianist also
best,
rob

Wow, your son is quite the wunderkind!
I don't know what else to add about this recording, except that I've heard dozens of recordings of this concerto and this one is right up there with the best of the best!
