A Jazz Piano Christmas 2025 – But not at the Kennedy Center

For more than three decades, “A Jazz Piano Christmas” at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. has been a quiet highlight of the holiday season for jazz and piano lovers. No fixed formulas, no “seasonal jazz” clichés — just strong pianistic voices working with familiar material. This year, the live concert is on pause. Here’s what changed, and where pianists can still turn for meaningful jazz piano Christmas listening and playing. Read more

Hello!
This question has been bothering me. There's this one "awkward" note in 9:59 and 11:36 in the right hand which is "A" natural.  This is bar 48 from pianostreet urtext edition Sonata quasi una fantasia op.27 no.2, 3rd mvt. It sounds like an off note. I've compared it to other editions like Henle Verlag urtext edition and the note is "A#". Is the pianostreet urtext right even though it sounds like an off note?
Many thanks for your opinion and also for any other observation.

Enzo

Beethoven's (surprisingly legible) manuscript is on IMSLP (pdf). It's the last bar on page 15. I'ts a little scribbly here (i'ts Beethoven, after all) but it doesn't look like a natural to be seen to my eyes.

The first edition is also on IMSLP (pdf). The bar in question is  third bar, second line on page 7. Not a natural there, either.

So - sounds bad, isn't supported by either the mss or the 1st edition. Looks like a typo to me.

Definitely a typo. Not meant to be a natural there. I can only presume someone inputted the notes, and changed the first one to a sharp, and the program assumed that the 2nd one was to remain at its natural A natural pitch... Sibelius does that.

This is an amazing interpretation.  I can't believe people haven't acknowledged it yet.  You are brilliant Enzo!  It's so controlled and clean, and I can tell since I play this myself :).  Keep it up!

It is supposed to be an A-sharp.
