chopin prelude op. 28 no.13
on: June 07, 2015, 11:14:02 PM
Hi all, I'm learning this prelude- the pedal markings are very sparse and all the recordings I hear have much more pedaling than is indicated. Thoughts?

Or maybe I'm interpreting the markings wrong? When there is a star * indicated, do I lift and then immediately put the pedal back on?

No specific indications for pedaling is not the same as "no pedal." It means that most of the pedaling is left up to your discretion. As is the case with most piano works, especially first editions.
