HARMONIC ANALYSIS!!!!!!!!
on: June 08, 2015, 04:57:38 AM
Yeah, I know. It's probably not good etiquitte to write with copious exclamation points and all caps, apologies in advance.
I think harmonic analysis is extremely important for understanding and composing music, but I can't  'check my work' anywhere! Since this is an important job for music theorist I imagine I can find a big database somewhere online of harmonic analysis of like every piece. Or at least find a book or resource that has something....

Hi Oullman7130,

I can't think of any online databases like that, but why not upload or link to your work in these forums so that we can check it?

Michael

I do, but I am not knowledgable enough to be fully accurate, and the best way to learn is certainly from one's mistakes...

Hi Oullman,

I edited my post after rereading your first post . . . I just woke up and am waiting for the first cup of coffee to kick in, and I didn't quite take everything in on the first pass!

https://www.harmonicanalyzer.com/

or simply type in the name of the piece you wish to check along with "harmonic analysis" and you will get plenty of results.

here is Moonlight Sonata for example
