Many thanks for posting. Most informative - and great to see Czerny, Rota et al get an airing.  I was particularly impressed by the last tiny bit (unnamed) - that sort of interlaced fingerwork I always find a real bugger to read.

I'd encourage everyone to have a look. And to consider the question - to what extent are they reading the notes and to what extent are they reading the music?

That was fun! Is it a regular show on TV?
I was impressed how they got the notes and instantly made the MUSIC. Rhythm, phrasing, volume, OMG :o

It's a regular show with Arie Vardi called "Intermezzo" with classical performers on various instruments, although this is the first episode I've seen with the prima vista topic.

There have been many different pianists on the show, like Wang, Kissin, Schiff, Kovacevich, Perahia etc. I think they're all on youtube if you search a bit.

Here is a different episode with the same three artists as the previous one:

Revisit to add a playlist with piano related episodes I found that are either in English or has English subtitles.

A lot of unknowns and a lot of well knowns, and some are guests in multiple episodes (Schiff, Wang, Perahia, Trifonov etc.) :-)

I'm seeing Levit in San Francisco next week, but I doubt that he'll be sightreading! Here's his program:

BACH: Partita No. 4 in D Major, BWV 828
SCHUBERT: Moments Musicaux, D780
BEETHOVEN: Sonata in D minor, Op.31, No.2 “The Tempest”
PROKOFIEV: Sonata No.7 in B-flat Major, Op.83
