Lucas Debargue - A Matter of Life or Death
Pianist Lucas Debargue recently recorded the complete piano works of Gabriel Fauré on the Opus 102, a very special grand piano by Stephen Paulello. Eric Schoones from the German/Dutch magazine PIANIST had a conversation with him. Read more >>

There's actually quite a bit still in print of his music, but no biography in any of the usual haunts.

He did the scores for three (French) films, so has in imdb entry (reads "biography wanted"). Has a street named after him in Paris EDIT: Opps - it's actiually a competition (  :-[ ) (Concours Artistique de Lucien Wurmser), toured with Anna Pavlova when she toured Australia (as her conductor). He also premiered the (original) piano version of Debussy's Tarentelle
styrienne.

Odd that there's not more on him.

BTW, he's the chap with the beard below.

Ernest So did the first recording of his preludes (samples here)

(highly recc purchasing the album)

Even Grove online has nothing on him, and a definative list of compositions is hard to find as well. Sibley has a nice scan of his etude as well.

the hunt continues....

Ernest Sop has a brief entry on his (lack of biography) on this YT page of him playing Wurmser's Ballerine.

It seems he actively recorded, mainly as pianist but also as conductor - though these seem not to have been reissued. He also taught, and a few pupils have popped up in searches. The Concourse Artistique Lucien Wurmserr is, it seems, still going and appears to be well regarded - though doesn't seem to have a web page.

He appears to have lead a long (90 years) and quite prolific and public life. It's quite curious that he seems to have completely dropped from the record.
