when I've done some ensemble training in past I did some work w/ an orchestra and filled in for a Harp player on some pieces. Score was fairly easy to make work of (probably doesn't hurt that was a Debussy work).

Got me thinking as I listen to harp music here and there, there  are potentially some gems-solos for unaccompanied harp that may work well as solo pieces for piano w/ out need to transcribe/change much.

Would love to hear folks thoughts and suggestions on where to look, as my only experience w harp scores has been for orchestra parts.

thanks.

You probably know of it, and either way it's not an attempt at being helpful, but Faure wrote his 6th Impromptu as a harp work originally. He arranged it to be his 6th Impromptu in his piano oeuvre, it's astonishingly beautiful and grand.
Beethoven-Alkan, concerto 3
Faure barcarolle 10
Mozart-Stradal, symphony 40

thanks will  look at this again.  I try to connect w/ Gabe, but a former teacher i did a short stint w let me know that Faure's music is incredibly deep and takes years of 'familiarity' w/ him and his style to really nail it right.

Will give a looksy again. thanks! *open to more suggestions  8)

I have actually played a harp solo on the piano, albeit i cannot remember the exact one. It was an operatic fantasia by Parish-Alvars and apart from a few impossible stretches, it translated rather well.

I recall a couple of concertos by Dussek that were written for pedal harp or piano.

Yes, but the sound between a harp and a piano remains different, that is to say, while transcribed for piano may work well, the harp piece is best presented by harp.

For modern harp works, which go for specific harp sound and techniques, this may not be the case.
