I happened to stumble upon this piece today…  So surprised I hadn't heard of it… (always associating Furtwangler with conducting) … It seems there aren't many concertos written in such a style, or 'tone'… There are some beautiful bravura passages, though much of the time the piano is weaved into the orchestral texture…  I immediately fell in love with it, and wanted to share this sumptuous piece… Perhaps many here are already familiar..  For those, I ask for pardon, for my overthetopness….. I am very curious what others think about this.

New to me, to.  It seems there's also a version by Barenboim/Mehta which I might give a listen once my ears have cleared.

He does go on a bit.

It's kind of a mix between Brahms and Wagner, both in a good way and a bad way.

I'm interested, thanks for posting. What's more interesting is the Schiff and Barenboim went and prepared performances. The score isn't immediately viewable is it? I don't see any compositions by Furtwangler on imslp.

They don't come into the public domain until 2024.

Listened to this a few years back and it is not for me. Just not enough interesting material to justify the length, but good emough to send
one to sleep.

Score has been posted om Pianophilia and a new revised version can be obtained from Ries & Erler for some silly price.
