I am an Ex Fatty
on: July 17, 2015, 10:57:41 PM
Indeed , after 1 year, 4,000 miles cycling, 1,500 miles walking, endless visits to the gym and a dramatic reduction in my beer intake, i am now 100 pounds lighter.

I might post some sexy photos ;D

Good on you, that is a remarkable achievement you can take pride in. I am sure you will feel better for it. You are naturally solid though, so provided you are mostly muscle rather than fat, you can be healthy at a heavier weight than other builds. BMI is only a guide after all. I tend toward the opposite situation. Being naturally slim and athletic, having played sports and trained for years, I need to make sure I do sufficient resistance training and eat well, else something like a cold, which I have now, affects me badly.

Perseverance is power.

I drink about 4 pints of beer per night, but only eat a couple eggs, the cream that goes in my coffee and vegetables during the day. Managing about 10% body fat right now, possibly less and no gym at all! Now i use that time and energy at the gym for practicing. But the time at the gym wasn't too bad in the past, memorizing music on the stair master is still something i'd consider in the future.

Whatever floats your boat and keeps the fatties away. My boat likes to float in beer, that's for sure.

You may want to consider this, as you're drinking as much beer as there is in an entire growler (usually 64 or 68 oz)...

In all seriousness, I'm just kidding. Whatever floats your boat.

With respect, physical weight, as applied to his personal health and fitness, is quite different from the quality level of "hardest piece" threads.

This is piano street, yes (and we might note it is also not "allcaps street"). This is also a board called "anything but piano", and a forum member finally reaching his fitness goal is completely appropriate here.
This could be taken as a section for random life questions, discussions, achievements, etc (excluding "Last post wins", of course, because that's more just a cure for the boredom rather than a discussion of any kind), and he is using it as such. Nothing wrong with it, and not at all connected to the negative reaction following your thread of "Hardest piece ever?".

Yes, it is "dedicated to greatest/hardest". People, however, are also sick of these threads and have every right to voice their dislike of it (especially when there might be like, one other person on the site who's genuinely interested in the poll).
How, though, is that related to Thal losing weight?

Impressive.  Congrats.

I was just thinking last night...  (Not sure if you ran into this.  I was just googling for it last night though.)

What did you do to curb hunger?  Little things like dividing out food before you eat, drinking water, and a little willpower to stop eating?

And what do you when you hit "the wall?"  I noticed after I exercised a lot, over weeks and weeks -- push an exercise routine and make that the standard -- that I seemed to just run out of energy at a certain point in the evening.  I was thinking I was out of calories.   If I don't exercise at all and eat a lot less, I get the same effect.  I'm thinking it's "the wall."  But from what I read, that's when the energy from food runs out and the fat starts getting burned from moving around.  I haven't figured out a solution for it, if there is one.

I don't get all that exercising...not only is it painful but it's boring as well...

When I want to lose weight, I just use my trusted pizza and cake method:
One pizza and one cake less a week = about 1 kilo less a month

Works every time  ;D

I am probably eating more than ever old chap, but i have completely changed my diet.

A banana or energy gel quickly relieves the "wall", or "bonk" as cyclists call it. Since my diet is hi carb, it is rare that i suffer.

What a curiously morbid turn for this thread to take. I do have a cold, and I am enjoying a rare lazy morning in bed listening to music on the iPad. And then I glanced at the forum. Now this could well explain why I have had no phone calls for a while. I am actually dead and my present state is an infernal illusion created by a vengeful deity to resemble normal existence. On the other hand, somebody might have put a death notice for me in the paper. They used to do that as a joke years ago.

That is indeed a remarkable achievement, brought about through consistent dedication and determination; good for you! That's almost 45½ kg! (or just over 7 stone, for those still hooked up on such measures). What's perhaps helped you to do this is that you've presumably tried to do it gradually rather than rushing at it in the hope of rapid results. Now all that you have to do is keep that weight off! I'm sure that you feel far healthier for it.

As to much of the remainder of this thread, it's hard to say anything much beyond the fact that it has no business to be there...

Best,

If there is one thing that I have learned it is that what comes off quickly tends to go back on quickly. 7 stone is a lot to lose, but over 52 weeks is less than 2lb a week. I am still operating on a small calorific deficiency, which whilst difficult to calculate appears to be working.

Can't remember the last time I had a pint of Bishops Tipple.

Congratulation THal !!!!  I am ooozing with ENVY!!!! ;D ;D

At the beginning of the year I was about 246 lbs (112kg) ... embarked on a diet with all my might!!  and after 7 months I am barely 105 kg (231 lbs) a measly redUction of 15 pounds for 7 months!!!  what a shame!!! :-[ :-[  It seems not worth it with all the headaches from hunger .... short tempers, general mallaise etc..... oh well perhaps another 15 pounds up to the end of the years will make me a bit happier! :)

I have to disagree Thal ....  WEIGHT IS SO DIFFICULT TO LOOSE BUT EXTREMELY EASY TO REGAIN! :'( :'(
