The Piano Concertos

I was wondering, what repertoire should probably be covered to work your way up to learning the Famed Major Piano Concertos. . . specifically what would you say I should "have under my belt" if you will, before playing/learning the Chopin Piano Concerto Nos 1/2 (My favorite is No. 2).

Classical period concertos, and/or some experience playing with an ensemble.
As far as technique, it's more important how you play than what you play. There is no standard path to progression for anyone, despite attempts to standardize piano repertoire.
The most difficult part of a concerto IMO is playing with an entire orchestra, and communicating with God- I mean, the conductor (insert obligatory conductor=God joke here).
