Please help! Any advice?
on: July 24, 2015, 11:49:29 AM
Hi I was wandering around google and I found this wonderful site weeks ago  and decided to sign up to know more about pianos
I am a beginer student who started to learn how to play the piano.
A year has passed but really It doesn't seems to make sense

Now before I start I might look very hasty trying to do things within a year, but anyway
I felt that I lack in techniques , strength etc..

I thought, 'before learning and to play the actual music piecies well I should first get a grip on some main techniques
'
So I decided to work on finger independence scales &arps and stuff.

But by practicing those techniques I often spend too much time  ending up only doing some straight techniques and leaving my given repertoire behind  with no progress

I am really confused nowadays
About how should I learn the techniques
How should I build up the muscles to make good dynamics
Good sound and fastr tempo
How can I deal with some patterns that tangles my fingers up (lol)

Thank you for reading this long messy writing  :)

I would appreciate any words of advice :'(

you've been playing a year... ;D  it's not gonna make sense for a while.

stop worrying about it and just play.

I get the feeling you are afraid you are learning incorrectly --   who said this word "techniques" to you? did someone tell you that if you don't learn "technique" you will never be able to play Beethoven?  or that if you don't learn "the right way" from the start it will effect your entire life as a pianist.  Did someone watch you play and then tell you to work on your "technique"???  and you weren't sure exactly what they were talking about so you asked here?

sounds like someone has baffled you with BS-- everybody is an expert when it comes to  music...lol.

don't sweat it.
