Well, pencilart made indications he may move on, but he's done that before...

I didn't mind the Schnittke you just posted. But he just doesn't really do it for me, I can sort of respect he is probably a clever composer but he doesn't emotionally connect to me.... Can I recommend you something? To put you through the same thing you put me through I'd have to know what you don't like though

There was a time I didn't care for him much either... I suppose you have to love his ideas within traditional tonality... What are your favourite traditional, tonal pieces or composers anyway?

Baroque: Scarlatti
Classical: Hate almost everyhing...I do like some Hummel though
Romantic: Franck, Chopin, Medtner
List of my favorite pieces would be long...there's so much wonderful music around.

Some of them I'd probably just read through once.
I admit I have a long way to go, I have worked on about 20 so far. There are probably about 40 that I'd really like to get to a really polished state and fully memorized. Then again there might be some gems I haven't heard yet...

Classical era music is definitely not for me. In fact it's the main reason why I avoided all classical so many years. Even as a child I hated Mozart and Beethoven and that was what was most mostly offered. I used to find Bach interesting as a kid, but somehow I just grew out of it.

More cinematography perhaps but let us say it can be anything visual, we've talked a lot about the audio aspect of movies, I figure we should touch on the other half.

One movie I can think of off the top of my head is American Beauty. So well shot and directed, lots of little touches that reinforce its themes. It had imagery from the banal to the surreal to the Dadaist.

I cannot name single favorites, since there are so many ways to create wonderful or interesting imagenary. American Beauty was great. But so is something like this in a totally different way:

how can you trash plan 9 --it is the first worst film ever...  the shower curtain complete with rings that is the door of the UFO..all the tin foil....  it is classic bad movie making.. art in it's own right...a true masterpiece in every way...lol.


I liked this one for visuals.... at the time the effects were breathtaking...and it still kinda holds it own

...or Brad Pitt saves the world.   I kept trying to enjoy it but I couldn't see much through his great big ego...  

good thing he got to Jerusalem in time to tell all those people to be quiet before the zombies heard them... man--like 5 minutes sooner...huh...  good thing he cut off the girls  arm before he got on the jet with the closet zombie...miraculously  just the two of them made it... how convenient.. then he has to go through one more zombie maze where you have to be quiet...lol...come on really???   you think they would mark the really deadly stuff in the bottles a little better huh?  you go Brad.  Then go live in Nova Scotia with your family...and relax. lol.

I'm really weird for a Finn...I had to give up drinking altogether for  health reasons...it's been about 2 years now...the misery of my life.
