Acting, theatre, etc.
on: August 08, 2015, 05:37:11 PM
Hi everyone
On top of everything else, I am an amateur actor, I mostly do play readings with the Melbourne Shakespeare Society but I've done a couple other things.
I just recently played the role of Guildenstern in "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead" and if you know anything about it you know that Guildenstern is easily the most challenging role in it. It was a marathon and there were stuff ups but everyone said I did really well. The director said she could see I had done lots of preparation (In truth, I winged it haha) and was very pleased with my performance.
Now, my question is: Has anyone else around here done any acting or the like? Can you tell any stories or anything?
Also I think this thread can just generally be about acting and theatre, whether we want to talk about how great Micheal Fassbender is or how terrible the community production we just saw was.

I memorized the entire text of Hamlet for fun and "performed " it one time for my fiancee. I'm a terrible actor. But it was a fun project.

Hey, I'm not really that great myself, the reason I started was when I was having trouble with music I needed another creative pursuit. I'll probably never be that good, but we opera singers (which I sort of am) hare known for our acting like operas are known for their plots...
That's a cool project though, the Shakespeare Society just did Hamlet, I was Laertes and everything went very well and it was very well received. After reading it I kind of wanted to do it properly, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead I mean, even If I have to play all the roles myself haha.
