My last post

Hi everyone, so lately I've kind of been thinking that I'm not really doing much on this forum any more. All I'm doing is making people mad at me and I'm getting angry at them. Yeah, I'm not really contributing much! :D And it's just kind of a waste of time for me. So I am going to just kind of drop off the face of the website. Maybe I'll post a piece or 2 in the audition room later on. I'm not trying to make a big deal out of it, but now you know where I went. I'll just be practicing, practicing, practicing... Anyway I'm not being michael_sayers who just disappeared! ;D Anyway, it's been fun to discuss things with you guys. C'ya later and best of luck with your piano endeavors. ;)

Hey Noah, it seems to me you might be having a bit of a problem at the moment, I don't want to presume too much but I thought I'd say a few things.

You can leave Pianostreet if you wish but I don't think that attitudes towards you are quite as bad as you think. I for one, like you for your enthusiasm. Thal, he only sticks around to make cantankerous comments every now and then, Tim? He was getting frustrated but he kept talking probably because he wants to help, in his own way. Birba is an astonishing pianist and he took an interest in your playing! I can't go through everybody but remember, it's a forum. The worst thing you can do is be marginally annoying, which some people will blow out of proportion but mostly as a joke.

Also, I think you are at a crossroads... Perhaps there's even more going on in your life at the moment, I don't know but I think at the very least, you're seriously re-evaluating your playing. Now, I have gotten to that point, where it seems so much is within grasp but so many tiny things keep coming up. No praise comes without qualification. Pieces that seemed like the next logical step you realise are perhaps beyond you. Your expression is immature (In my case it was overdone, in yours, underdeveloped) and you know it. You are maybe starting to realise how hard this road you've chose really us. Now maybe you don't see things this way. But I think you should, I think you do need to change your approach, your repertoire and your whole set of expectations for yourself. I played the 3rd Ballade after two and a half years. Terribly. I thought I was the grown up equivalent of a prodigy but I wasn't really and eventually I accepted that. But I developed new ideas, I challenged myself. I changed my whole approach, changed my repertoire completely, developed a plan I could follow that was satisfyingly ambitious but had steps I could take from the bottom to the top. Maybe you need to undergo your own equivalent of this process. Or maybe you think I'm talking rubbish and that everything is fine. IDK.

I should at least say, if you do choose to post anything I will take a look.

As for the troll? He's one of the most pointless and obvious, useless trolls I've ever seen. He doesn't matter.

@Pencilart
I am glad you posted this, instead of just leaving. :)
I too enjoyed your enthusiasm.
The flip side of that is - you have strong feelings to express which is a wonderful thing, though   which can leave you feeling vulnerable, and unheard or misread.
I really can't add anything more that Josh hasn't so eloquently said.
I'm sorry to see you go, if you must.
Take care, Pencilart.  I'll keep an eye out for you in the audition room, and check you on 'sound cloud ' as well.

I too respect your enthusiasm and your beliefs...

and I like your playing, too.  ;D

we are not all bad, in fact sometimes there are very in depth and interesting strings..but there are also a few really annoying trolls here. I, too, have been known to be drawn into pianostreet drama strings and really get angry at people who don't matter at all...and I am supposed to be a grown-up.

Don't let it get you down

we are all here because we love the piano...  and most of us are not surrounded by other like-minded individuals -- but here...  though we argue about stupid stuff... it's nice to be communicating with folks who do what I do...

I learn a lot here...

Thal

I have noticed this but that's pretty much only Audition room, like he said...

In my opinion it would be good if he still posted beyond that, only a bit more judiciously... But it's up to him.

Piano Street Magazine:
When Practice Stagnates – Breaking the Performance Ceiling: Robotic Training for Pianists

“Practice makes perfect” is a common mantra for any pianist, but we all know it’s an oversimplification. While practice often leads to improvement, true perfection is elusive. But according to recent research, a robotic exoskeleton hand could help pianists improve their speed of performing difficult pianistic patterns, by overcoming the well-known “ceiling effect”.
