Liszt Don Juan
on: August 21, 2015, 12:35:41 AM
OK, a disclaimer: I CANNOT PLAY THIS, BY ANY MEANS:
I actually just started reworking the Bach 2-Part Inventions
I have A LOT of fundamentals to learn. I just wanted to see people's reactions to this piece.
But, has anyone heard this live? What do you thing? Is it just to exhausting to listen to? By the time "La Cirem da Mano" starts, do you already feel to unrefreshed to appreciate its beauty? Or is it not like that? Does it wow you? Do you never get bored?
I've never heard it played live, but I'm sure some of you have, so I wanted to hear about your experience.

Have it performed numerous times. Under competent and imaginative pianists, it sounded fun, exciting and exhilarating. Under less competent ones, it can be tedious and rambling. It is one of those pieces, where one not only needs to have the technical wizardry, it requires careful planning and execution, sprinkled with lots of creative imagination. Anything less, it will sound like technical exercises, piled on top of each other.
