I love this mov't. for its delicacy and boldness - and how Beethoven plays these contrasting qualities off of each other.
It is not so easy.. The fingering must allow for legato movement as the phrases dictate- without pedal.. The articulation of the phrases and the staccatos must be clearly defined - for each hand. Also one must give the ties their full value - practicing with a very steady beat.. The firm beat is also important with regard to the syncopation… Also notice the accents in the trio section, where the syncopation is made most obvious.
Then after all this is comfortable- there are the dynamics - which is mostly Quiet except for a few big swells in the first section,which then return Very quickly back to quiet. And the dramatic contrast to that in the 'Trio' - where there are separate 'volumes' indicated for each hand in certain places…
