Composition: 'A Romantic Nocturne'
on: August 26, 2015, 07:56:46 AM
A piece I wrote originally for piano trio - this is a piano reduction

Evoked by the night, not a conventional nocturne, but that was not entirely the purpose of this piece, any comments would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks!

A very appealing piece, with poignant romantic energy, effective figurations  and a spontaneous quality to it. As you imply though, I wonder if "nocturne" is quite the right description, especially for the middle section.

I agree, a nocturne is a night piece, comes from the same root word as nocturnal. Something dark, quiet, mysterious maybe. I don't know, this could be a nocturne. What ever you want, it's a nice piece. Nice octaves in the middle.  ;)

Thanks very much - yeah I might change the title, not of the highest importance I suppose!
