Alfred Jaell Reminiscences de Norma
on: August 29, 2015, 01:18:43 AM
From a masterclass session this week:

an extremely obscure paraphrase in the grand 19th century manner which probably owes something to Liszt's similarly-named fantasy, but also incorporates (to good dramatic effect) Casta diva which Liszt opted not to do.

Super job! I've never been into playing transcriptions. However, your posts definitely make me want to! Maybe the Liszt-Bach Fantasy and Fugue in G Minor haha.

Thanks. Liszt is really the king of transcriptions, but there are also good ones from lesser lights. If you were looking for Bach transcriptions, it would be well worthwhile looking into Busoni and Tausig.
