How to get feedback on original compositions
on: August 30, 2015, 08:37:25 AM
Hi all,

I've been recently posting videos of my original piano compositions on Youtube, and I encountered a serious problem concerning the feedback. In my opinion the feedback is crucial to make progress. So does anyone have any ideas or comments.

I would really appreciate it if you check my original piano song

pretty song--and nicely played   keep on composing.

you may want to try to relax your hands a bit  ;D  you are holding a lot of tension  If you want to  keep writing your music you had better fix that LH it's already holding you back

I agree with dcstudio, good ideas, nothing wrong musically, but your left hand would worry me. One well known, useful practice trick is to invent exercises for yourself which are mirror symmetric about D or Ab. It doesn't matter what notes you play but work gently, playing reasonably slowly with easy figures at first, and closely observe and compare appearance and sensation between the hands. Playing the same figure, reflected about D or Ab will throw into sharp relief differences between the hands. Then over time, don't rush it, you can begin making the left hand work like the right hand.

That is one way to go, but I am sure others here with better technique than mine can suggest different remedies. The music itself has several interesting ideas, so it is good you posted a video otherwise we would not have realised the physical aspect.
