What to play next?!
on: August 30, 2015, 09:08:34 AM
Hello everyone!
I'm currently without teacher and have therefore not really any idea what to play next. I've learned a lot of new pieces this summer, but it doesn't take more than a couple of days before I've learned the pieces. Therefore I'm asking you to please recommend me a piece ^_^
Most recently pieces learned and played:
-Burgmüller op. 100 no. 21 (Harmonie des anges)
-Burgmüller op. 100 no. 15 (Ballade)
-Beethoven 2 Sonatinas for Piano, Anh.5 (both)
-Scharwenka op. 61 no. 3 (Erzählung)
-Chopin 'Cantabile' in B-flat major, B.84
Thanks in advance!

I may not be a huge help to you, but since no one else is helping you I'll give it a try.
Since your name is Chopin for life I think you would like some more Chopin pieces so here are the ones that think you would like
Polonaise in g minor op posth
Waltz in b minor (can't remember opus # but it is pretty famous)
Mazurka in a minor op 7 no 2
You may also want to try some of the easier Bach inventions like 1, 4,8,13, and 14
Some of my favorites at that level are the tcherpenin bagatelles
Hope this helps!

It seems you like Chopin a great deal right?
Well, that's fine and the romantic period in music was a period in which many musical aspects developed (which, for me, came to it's right mostly in the late 19th century) but if you want to get further in playing the piano, you should broaden your horizon also to baroque composers, of which the most beneficial was Johann Sebastian Bach.
Take a look at his two-part inventions. Looking at your current level you should be ready to deal with them now. Start with numbers 1, 4, 6 and 8. Then move on to the more intermediate ones.
Meanwhile, keep playing Chopin if you love his music.

Marijn
