Next Bach to play?
on: September 16, 2015, 07:27:46 PM
Hi, I'm trying to figure out what Bach I want to play next. I played the Prelude and Fugue Book 1 No. 17 In A Flat Major a little bit ago, and I'm hoping to tackle another of his pieces. Any suggestions?

Passacaglia and Fugue in c minor?

Guys, come on. He played one of the simple Preludes & Fugues (to which extent they even can be simple) and you come with Passacaglia and Fugue, which isn't even a keyboard piece??

I'd suggest one of the following:

Well Tempered Clavier Book I:

Prelude and Fugue in C minor
Prelude and Fugue in D major
Prelude and Fugue in E minor
Prelude and Fugue in F major
Prelude and Fugue in F-sharp major
Prelude and Fugue in F-sharp minor
Prelude and Fugue in G-sharp minor
Prelude and Fugue in B-flat major
Prelude and Fugue in B-flat minor
Prelude and Fugue in B major

Well Tempered Clavier Book II:

Prelude and Fugue in C major
Prelude and Fugue in C minor
Prelude and Fugue in D minor
Prelude and Fugue in E-flat major
Prelude and Fugue in E major
Prelude and Fugue in F minor
Prelude and Fugue in G major
Prelude and Fugue in A minor
Prelude and Fugue in B minor

You could also try something other than Preludes & Fugues:

French Suite in D minor, B minor, E-flat major, G major.
Partita in B-flat major

Those are just some of the many suggestion I can give you.

BW,
Glenn

It's an organ work, so technically not a work for only keyboard (as there are footpedal markings).
