Dear Pianostreet friends!

Since many years, I have been dreaming of starting a piano recital series - a series that would give room both for the familiar repertoire and music much less often heard. After a lot of work, it seems like it will finally become reality. A few cultural foundations have offered generous support, BUT we seem to still be in need of some more funds. I have therefore launched a crowd-funding campaign, and would be delighted if any of you would be willing to have a look, spread the word, perhaps donate, if you feel like doing so. The campaign was launched just now, and I will probably do some updates to the text and the layout still. Feedback/comments are more than welcome at this stage!

Wow, that would be great, even if it's in Helsinki... The few interesting piano recitals that we have here I tend to miss due to scheduling problems... like the Boulez thing next month, simply cannot manage the trip and it really pains me... :(

For such a great cause I need to figure out how to donate on that site I guess :)

Great idea and best of luck.  I have reshared w a group where I am  a veteran contributor and this picky group is gaga for that type of thing so we should see more support and word of mouth among some.  Will support the campaign as well.  Please keep us updated so we can view the videos if we cannot travel to another continent to catch performances.

Oh wow, that is wonderful - thank you both for the responses and positive words. Outin, incidentally there will be a pianist in the series performing during spring who recently performed all Boulez sonatas and studied with P-L Aimard (who is performing in the concert I believe you are referring to). Most likely, he'll have one of the sonatas on his program, too. (where do you live again? I think it was Oulu, or...? Because I'm coming there to play in November :) )

And e2o, spreading the word among others that might be interested is exactly what we need at this point! I think this series could fill an important function, and naturally we're aiming at video-recording all concerts professionally, so, people from other parts of the globe will have a chance to see performances as well.

I don't live quite that far... Close to Turku...so don't think I'll make it to your concert either :(

Ahh, I must've confused you with another Finnish member of these forums! No invite yet from the orchestra in Turku...but let's wait and see!

Well, a work thing just got cancelled and I might be able to get to the Boulez thing after all :)

I'll look into the fund raising thing now...

So the concerts will start in the spring? Do you have any plans on the venue yet? I find this whole idea very appealing because I would hardly bother to travel to a concert with all the usual boring stuff most people around here seem to like so much :)

Good for you, outin! The concerts are actually starting already in the fall - it IS written somewhere in the text I believe, but perhaps it should be outlined more clearly...in fact, the first concert will be in late October - the website should be up within a week or so, and there'll be more info soon on the crowdfunding page, as well as the facebook page.

Very happy with the support so far! We received around 150 likes in just one day, and also managed to raise 6% of the full amount :) The campaign is going on for some 35 days, so this might work out in the end, hopefully. Do spread the word, folks!

Have made some minor updates to the crowdfunding campaign, including more detailed information about performers and programs. There'll be a website up fairly soon, once I have some more spare time. Meanwhile, the whole projects has received quite a bit of attention locally and elsewhere, and thanks to some generous donations, it is now more than 10% funded :)

More updates coming very soon!

We are very happy with the generous donations that our crowdfunding campaign has received so far! By now, we have already developed certain collaborative partnerships that will help us in keeping the costs down for the recital series. Stay tuned for details! Nevertheless, financial support is still crucial at this stage, and your contribution is much encouraged as long as the crowdfunding campaign continues. 14 days left. Please spread the word!

5 days left of the crowdfunding campaign now - do have a look if you haven't yet, and with time there will be more information published. First recital takes place in the middle of November.
