The left hand is giving me grief. Is there a way to fake it?

This isn't intended as a serious reply, but I thought you might enjoy it: When I was learning that part of the piece, I rolled my hand back and forth in such a way that the notes where there but not strictly in an accurate way------easier to demonstrate than to describe. Let's just say that it was an impression rather and a photograph.

When I played it for my teacher we were talking about Rubinstein (the dedicatee, who sometimes admitted to a slapdash approach to accuracy) and my teacher said that Rubinstein probably played it that way!

By the way, my teacher had played it himself and remembered working long and hard on that part: I'm afraid that perfect_pitch is right in the long run.
