Chopin nocturne in E minor, Op.72/1
on: September 25, 2015, 05:07:17 PM
Hey everyone.
This is just a short recording of this nocturne. I was playing around on the piano and figured I'd record it. It's nothing too special, and I think it could use something here and there. Anyway, any feedback is appreciated as always, and hope you enjoy it. I love this piece and I'm probably going to include it in the 30 minute preview CD (for those who know what I'm talking about).
Note: The A natural (the one you start tuning on) is off in terms of tuning or voicing or something, because it sounds a bit metallic. the F a tenth below it is unusually loud (a regulation thing), so just keep that in mind while listening. Thanks.

It's very nice playing. I'm well familiar with this nocturne, having worked on it daily for a year or more. Just a couple things I'll point out. In the second section of the piece you really pick up the tempo for a moment, and it feels incongruent with what has come before. Then, after the trills and runs, you'll want to make the reprise of the theme stand out, as this is a denoument before it fades away. You handle the trickier areas rather adeptly.
It's a lovely piece, and lends itself to a rich interpretation.

Hey goldentone. Sorry for the late reply, just saw this!
Thanks for your comments, and I'll keep them in mind. On 2nd listening I noticed the increase in tempo. It was mostly my intention to raise the intensity of the music, but maybe I overdid it. I'll also keep the suggestions about making the final theme stand out in mind as well, thanks!
