on: December 21, 2004, 05:55:43 PM
hi

I'm currently working on this beethoven ecossaises in Eb major.  Im just wondering if anyone could describe how the fingering would work with this part here..   I can't seem to get it smoothly.  any comments advice would be much appreciated.

That's the fingering I would do.  Just practice jumping from the F-Ab to the Eb-G (1-3 to 3-5) without creating any kind of accent in either.  After the 3-5, you're home free...just do 2-4 1-3, then cross over to the 2-4 they have written.

53-42-13-42-13-42      42 42 42 42 is the fingering I would change it to.

Otherwise the bottom one.

...uh, if the other fingering works for you, then great.  It's not exactly marked to be played legato, though...

this is not extremely significant, but I would use 1-3 instead of 2-4 in the r.h. on the last measure.  And that is assuming that the notes are G-B FLAT, and F-A FLAT. Since you said that it is in the key of E Flat, I'm assuming that there was not a modulation to a different key before these measures.

Take Your Seat! Trifonov Plays Brahms in Berlin

“He has everything and more – tenderness and also the demonic element. I never heard anything like that,” as Martha Argerich once said of Daniil Trifonov. To celebrate the end of the year, the star pianist performs Johannes Brahms’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko on December 31. Piano Street’s members are invited to watch the livestream. Read more
