on: September 27, 2015, 01:33:24 PM
Anyone got any interesting ones?

I already have Liszt, Thalberg, Leschetizky and Prudent.

Thanks.

Thanks; I'll have a look at these tomorrow. I do tend to find Sydney Smith (what I've previously seen, at least) somewhat generic and not very inspired. There's supposed to be a Herz one, btw, not found it anywhere yet.

No, Smith was not inspired.

The only Herz Lucia I have is his Op.102 "Grand Fantasia on Favorite Airs from Lucia":

There are a fair few more including Litolff and Fumagalli, but you would need to request on Pianophilia as they are private scans.

Thanks. The Fumagalli might be of some interest, actually (is it l.h. only? - the obvious question to ask!) I've done a lot of work on the Leschitizky (which is l.h. only) in the last week - it's about the right length for my intentions. I'm a bit wary of Fumagalli; the Leschitizky is comparatively accessible and some of Fumagalli's stuff is bloody difficult (incidentally an Italian pianist has recorded the Fumagalli Robert le Diable, which is one of the scariest l.h. only pieces I've ever seen, though the performance was a bit on the cautious side iirc).

Haha, i saw the Leschitizky on my searches but thought you would not be interested as it was too simple. Did not realise it was left hand only. What a knob.

Will check the Fumugalli tomorrow.
