“Piano Dreams” - Exploring the Chinese Piano Explosion
The motivations for learning the piano are diverse, ranging from personal enjoyment to cultural appreciation and professional aspirations. While some see it as a way to connect with cultural heritage, others pursue it as a path to fame and fortune. In the movie “Piano Dreams” director Gary Lennon documents the struggles and sacrifices of three wannabe piano stars in modern China. Read more >>

Quitting PianoStreet
on: October 17, 2015, 04:27:55 AM
Maybe I'm too impulsive, but I feel like quitting this forum is necessary for me right now. I'm not famous or anything, but I think y'all would be wondering if I were to not post for a period of time and then "resurface"

At least, I have to be much more inactive on PianoStreet in order to focus on... well, piano, schoolwork... Watching the Chopin Competition is fun and discussing it is fun, but I really need to discipline myself in order to "deliver" my "piano responsibilities..." So this means, only occasional Audition Room posts, no long-ass posts like these, far less conversations/interactions with everyone... you get the idea.

Also, y'all are cool guys, and I have actually "seen" what you look like through YouTube videos- so I am not exactly worried about "Internet safety" (as much as I should...) And there is almost no one else I know who I can really discuss piano with :P Even so, my parents don't know that I'm on this forum and I don't know if they would condone my going on it so often :/ AGAIN you are all awesome; I'm just worried about getting in trouble with my parents. "It's not you guys, it's me"

So that's that.
TL;DR you might not care, but Imma leave this forum for a bit b/c I'm a lazy ass and I have (perhaps rightfully) protective parents

BOOM. I think this is the most important part. Some other people here might want to consider this as well haha.

Good bye, Schumaniac! Haha my parents hate PS and I kind of do most of my stuff undercover... maybe I should take your example haha. Well anyway, best of luck on your piano journey! You are a fine musician!

These forums can eat too much of one's time... Especially if you start taking them too seriously. How lucky we older folks are that when we were in school there was no internet... I had trouble finding time for school even without.

My time here is rarely away from piano practice so I can justify it. Besides these days I don't need to use English as much as before elsewhere, so I tell myself it's beneficial :)

As long as you only give up on a forum, not the piano, not much lost!
