Describe your baby (your piano, that is):  Estonia 190 polished mahogany, purchased last year.

Oh yes you can.  I drive a white Dodge Grand Caravan.  It's not only boring and mundane, but it's a big fat lemon too.  But I LOVE it.

And I have to come up with a question?  ok.
Q: What is your absolute favorite piece  cooking equipment in your whole kitchen? (talk about boring and mundane! ;D)

A: My large blue Le Crueset pot.

Oh, and cindy - how come nobody else is playing? Do you think we scared them all off?

Yep Jodi, we scared them off.  All except Ted!  Who can play anything he desires to play.  Man, am I jealous, Ted!

I wish I had one of them there personality transplant machines so I could be Ted for just *one* day.  I would play until my fingers bled.  I'd just reel 'em off:

Rhapsody in Blue
Mozart's k545
Moonlight Sonata *with* musical expression
Everything Chopin ever wrote or wanted to write

And for my big finish . . .

Cindy:

But if you did that you would also inherit my laziness, wouldn't actually learn many new pieces and just sit around improvising all day. I'm so lazy that I carry compositions around in my head for weeks without writing anything out. A complete personality transplant would be a risky business; just selected propensities admittedly might come in handy sometimes though. For instance I might like certain of Jarrett's abilities but I certainly don't want his illnesses, angst and back problems thank you very much.

One thing about your life you'd change if you could (sorry, but you
may not say "lose weight"):  avoiding the car accident that left me and my wife with a severe whiplash and now suffering from constant shoulder and neck pain.

Philosophy for an easy life:  Is there one?

Your most rock-solid prediction for 2005:  Life will go on.

As for my own question, I can't think of any.

Name:  Egon von Sprocket

Also known as: Tom.

Age/Sex: 45/M.

Birthplace/Livingplace and feelings about same: Born in Connecticut--but now living in exile in NYC and Florida.

Family Life: Wife, a good piano player, and two girls--11, a really good piano player, and 8, an OK piano player but a lovely little ballet dancer wannabe.

Personality: Somewhat mercurial.

Words friends have used to describe you:  Evil Clown and Saint, but oddly not much in between.

Words you have used to describe you: Blessed.

Things you do when not staring at the computer: Horseback riding and fencing.  I read a lot, too.

Comfort foods: Pickled Herring--I have to eat it in the car, my wife won't abide the smelly stuff in the house.

Education/Work:  AB, Classics, MA Philosophy, worked a little on a Ph.D, but came to my senses and moved on. I buy failing businesses (usually from MBA's who thought they know something about business) build them up and then flip them.  I also develop strip malls.

Language skills:  Used to know Latin and Koine Greek pretty well, but that was a long time ago.  Also know a little French and a little Polish.

Where have you been all my life: Waiting, hoping and praying for you to arrive to fill my days with wonder and my nights with passion.

Piano proficiency: I'm a classical guitar player who for the longest time only played the E, B, G, D, A, and E notes on the piano.  Now, I'm working my way through Chopin's Preludes with some minor success.

Describe your baby (your piano, that is):I have a mahogany Steinway L  in my home in NYC--and a polished ebony Young-Chang PG-213 in Florida.

Piano piece you'd give anything to be able to play: Any of the Brandenburg Concertos.

One thing about your life you'd change if you could (sorry, but you
may not say "lose weight"):  I would have studied piano instead of guitar in my youth.

Philosophy for an easy life: To know all is to forgive all.

Your most rock-solid prediction for 2005: I will become a kinder, gentler person.

Name:  Wynne

Also known as: WynnBear

Age/Sex:  48/M

Birthplace/Livingplace and feelings about same:  New Orleans.  It's a great place to visit.

Family Life:  Yes, I have one.

Personality: Still just one (as far as I know)

Words friends have used to describe you: "You can be intimidating."

Words you have used to describe you: Shy, but trying to get over it.  "Intimidating, me???"

Things you do when not staring at the computer: Piano, singing, reading.  Watching way too much television.

Comfort foods:  Mashed potatoes.  Mmmmmm.

Education/Work:  BS Finance, minor in Comp Sci (back in the days transitioning from punch-cards to terminals), MBA.  Make decisions on loans for a commercial bank.

Language skills:  Only English.  I had four years of Latin in high school and remember none of it.

Where have you been all my life:  Here.

Piano proficiency:  Four years of lessons as a young teen; I took up playing again last year.  Probably play somewhere in the late intermediate / early advanced level.  The U.S. doesn't have those nifty standard grade levels, or at least we didn't back then.  How about this:  The two most technically challenging things I've played are Chopin's "Military" Polonaise (A), and Mendelssohn's Rondo Capriccioso.

Describe your baby (your piano, that is):  Bought a Charles Walter upright last year.  She's polished cherry and sounds and plays much bigger than 43" high would lead you to believe.

Piano piece you'd give anything to be able to play:  Rhapsody in Blue is good, but I'll also add the "Heroic" Polonaise (Ab)

One thing about your life you'd change if you could (sorry, but you may not say "lose weight"):  There are too many things in my miss-spent youth to ever narrow down to one.

Philosophy for an easy life:  If you can't change something, don't worry about it.

Your most rock-solid prediction for 2005:  The U.S. will still be in Iraq next year at this time.

ADD A QUESTION OF YOUR OWN AND ANSWER IT:  If you could start-over, what field would your career be in?  Medicine.

Lately I've been thinking how much I miss my lady
Amoreena's in the cornfield brightening the daybreak
Living like a lusty flower, running through the grass for hours
Rolling through the hay like a puppy child

And when it rains the rain falls down
Washing out the cattle town
And she's far away somewhere in her eiderdown
And she dreams of crystal streams
Of days gone by when we would lean
Laughing fit to burst upon each other

I can see you sitting eating apples in the evening
The fruit juice flowing slowly, slowly, slowly
Down the bronze of your body
Living like a lusty flower, running through the grass for hours
Rolling through the hay like a puppy child

Oh if only I could nestle in the cradle of your cabin
My arms around your shoulders the windows wide and open
While the swallow and the sycamore are playing in the valley
Oh I miss you Amoreena like a king bee misses honey

Lately I've been thinking how much I miss my lady

Living like a lusty flower, running through the grass for hours

*sigh* Why? Because 18 people under one roof for 4 days with nothing to do but sit around and look at each other gets more and more exciting with each passing second. Plus, it appears that the minors on this thread need to be better represented.

Name: Kimberly

AKA: Kym, Alex, & Fraulein

Age/Sex: 15-year-old girl

Birthplace/Livingplace and feelings about the same: Pacific Northwest, USA. ... hey look! A tumbleweed! Get a picture!.... oh man! here comes another! get ready!...

Family life: bizarre beyond human reasoning. My grandmother washed her hair in the kitchen sink yesterday for lack of adequate shower time.

Personality: Insanely introverted

Words friends have used to describe you: Well, I have been told that I am someone's "Sheckshy sweet fat-free bran muffin."

Words you have used to describe you: Laid back?

Things you do when not staring at the computer: This may come as a shock, but I play piano. I also LOVE to read (Tolkien!:D). Listen to punk rock and do homework.

Comfort foods: Sugar-free warm tapioca pudding with strawberries, hot cocoa, and M&M's

Education/work: Sophomore in high school/piano teacher

Language skills: English and an EXTREMELY limited amount of spanish

Where have you been all my life: Practicing my tumbleweed watching.

Piano proficiency: You'd have to ask my teacher. I honestly have no clue.

Describe your baby (your piano, that is): A Conn upright! Very stiff keys, hasn't been tuned in AT LEAST 10 years...

Piano piece you'd give anything to be able to play: well, if I could get Fantasie Impromptu up to par for my competition this spring, that'd be nice. I don't know what else I'd like to play.

One thing about your life you'd change if you could (sorry, but you may not say "lose weight"): Hm. If we can't use "lose weight" then I'm good!

Philosophy for an easy life: pass yourself off as either chronically ill or insane, and let other people take care of your problems.

Your most rock-solid prediction for 2005: The US is screwed. The fact that George Bush was re-elected versus John Kerry just slows down the screwing process. Tumbleweed-watching will become an olympic event.
