Hi! I am in the market for an acoustic piano for my home. Is $13,800 a good deal on a brand new Baldwin BP165 baby grand piano? According to blue book of pianos, etc. it looks good, and they are throwing rebates at it, but I wanted to ask the community since I'm early in my research around purchasing. Thanks!

new baldwins (post gibson) are made in China (dong bei factory), they are at the upper tier of what China puts out (think Hailun), they are nice pianos but should not be confused w super nice late model US Baldwins.   I would suggest to buy almost new/slightly used, it's a buyers market out there. I think they're good/decent but if i had 13k to blow on another /new gp, i would be looking at a really nice used Kawai rx, US baldwin , maybe a used petrof if super nice, etc.

again as far as chinese pianos go the dong bei factory has a history of doing the nicer and better sounding ones, and china has come a LONG way, but there is a lot of margin there and i think you get get a better price and/or get them to throw in a lot of free tuning and a ton of free hours of better prep by a tech in your home post delivery to sweeten the deal

The 2015 BP165 was manufactured in Yi Chang (Parsons) not Dongbei. I am selling my 2015 newly purchased BP165 for $8,000

I agree you could find a much better quality piano used that will far exceed what you can get from China.  We have a Kawai, Knabe and other grands as well that fit that price range.
