with all this talk of improv and genius...  I am inspired to share the real thing.   This is Oscar Peterson arguably the greatest jazz pianist of all time...  a true musical genius.  This is what improvisation is supposed to sound like.  ENJOY!!!

you honestly didn't think I was going to say it was me, did you?

or... here's Keith Jarret if you like your improv a little more out there,

I like Pierre Boulez as well, but he's a different type of jazz than Oscar Peterson.

@visitor... yes she is an exceptional jazz pianist...LOVE IT.   There is a vid somewhere of Hiroma playing with Chick Corea and it's amazing.   That is improvisation... freedom on the keys...  +1 to her as well.

I love the Gershwin standards, too.  I play them all... which is not to suggest that I sound anything like Hiroma--but I do love my Gershwin.
