Uneveness in Bach left hand playing.
on: November 14, 2015, 10:53:31 AM
Hi guys,

My last post was about the trills in Bach's Invention No. 4 but that didn't went too well so...

My next problem with this piece is mostly the uneveness in the left hand parts where there are sixteenth notes leaps. I can play them, but because of the passing over of fingers the rhythms just keep mess up. It sounds uneven and it bothers me so much.

Please help me out!

Thanks,
Marijn

Play it slowly hands separately, as it seems it's just the left hand that's got the problem. Until it sounds even, play as slow as you need to go, use a Metronome to keep in time and to ensure each note is getting the right rhythm. You will probably be surprised just how slow you you may need to play before it's comfortable.

Once you got that down, pick up the tempo in sensible increments. Don't think this is a one session process.

If it was 120 tempo and i was only comfortable at 70, i'd probably do 5-10 tempo a day as a little exercise, repeating a number of times, while focusing on other things.
