Music by Josef Gelinek
on: November 15, 2015, 09:26:51 PM
Hi,
Does anyone have any sheet music (not on IMSLP) for any piano pieces/works by Gelinek? (1758-1825)?

I have the his Variations on "La Cirem Da Mano", if anyone is interested. These are not on IMSLP. I found them in a book  that I bought in DC. They're a nice set, actually; pretty virtuosic but quite manageable.

Regretfully, IMSLP is reasonably useless, so i will check my files tomorrow.

One piece i do have are his variations on Mozart's Air de Mysteres which you simply must learn as they are absolutely divine. Check the recording by Katsaris who tastefully takes some liberties.

I hate to admit it brat, but your journey through the neglected composers is refreshing.

Well actually, I've been looking at less-famous composers for a while, but then I stopped because  I kind of neglected my musical duties (practicing; learning new pieces, etc.). When I came back a few months ago, I focused mainly on the common repertoire, because I was preparing for something.

I just started doing it again in small portions.

BTW, I cant wait to see what you guys have! Gelinek's Variations are very good-sounding to me; he writes on some of my favorite tunes. (Beethoven and Mozart don't always choose the best tunes....)

OK brat here are the variations as played by Katsaris.

Regretfully, much of my Gelinek file are private scans.
