Hullo once more ;),

Any chances of finding a piano solo transcription of the celebrated 'Adagio' of Rach's 2nd Symphony? Preferably an advanced transcription, sort of like what Gong did for the Rach 3. ;) 8)

Cheers in advance,
M.W.

there's at least a couple, I have a really well done nice advanced version that came as part of a book i imported from Japan, I don't for the life of me know who the arranger is (other than I lifted a first initial and a last name H. Daiho ) given that all the info is in Japanese. If someone can volunteer to translate i can snap an image of the specifics and post in  hopes of someone shedding light on it.
it's a harder solo piano piece to pull of than the score would seem at first glance but it's rewarding (i've been working on and off of it this fall as it's a slated spring project so i did some general reading to know what I was getting into).
If you want the name/specifics of the book, i posted the volume in the piano & music investments thread a while back:

here is the post I am referring to

ISBNコード
9784636887983

great book with a better (to me at least) typset and layout for some Kapustin etudes from op 40, some preludes, and some great solo arrangements of Ravel piano concerto (1st movement) Gershwin concerto (1st mvmnt),  Rachmaninnoff 2nd symphony third movement, and a host of related others. Some are pieces I already had but of the ones that I had, these are new arrangements I didn't have

think this may have gotten stuck in customs, took forever to import, had almost forgotten I bought it long time ago, glad it's finally here. can't wait to dig in (learning the whole book).
score here

Kapustin
( this edition has good suggested fingerings as well . They make sense and for most part fall in line w what I had worked out in the std edition)
[1]eight concert etude 1. Prelude

[2] eight concert Etude 2.

[3] Etude 3

[4] 24 Preludes No. 9 of

[5] 24 Preludes No. 23 of
 Ravel
[6] Piano Concerto in G major first movement

[7] Pavane for Dead Princess

[8] Debussy symphonic poem than "sea" from the dawn of the sea until midday
   Gershwin
[9] Rhapsody in Blue

[10] An American in Paris

[11] I Got Rhythm

[12]
    From opera "Porgy and Bess"

[13]  Piano Concerto
Rachmaninoff
[14] Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini

[15] Second Symphony third movement (Rachmaninoff)
Overall really pleased w/ the score, layouts, arranging, and selection. Collection as a whole is really attractive.

There is one i know of from Boosey, I don't think it is exactly like mine but still looks nice, (i don't have my version handy to compare), this may be easier and cheaper to obtain

there's one published by Chester as well, not sure who did that one

obviously i cannot post mine or full versions of any due to copyright given the age of the composition, almost any published transcription would be 'recent' so likely not in public domain. cool piece though, i may move to another movement later, i came across a solo of the first movement somewhere so I may look into getting that one under me once the 3rd mvmnt is wrapped up.

good luck  8)

Thanks so much to both of you, Jeremy and visitor, for such useful information!! That book seems pretty interesting by the way, visitor, I'd never heard of it before, but I'll be sure to look it up; any solo arrangements that can be labelled as 'great' are always worth checking out for me ;) ; I know, it just sort of...doesn't...make sense...right?... ;D

Cheers once more,
M.W.
