chromatic 32nd notes in la campanella
on: November 16, 2015, 11:26:04 PM
The chromatic 32nd notes in la campanella are meant to be played as fast as possible?, because there are sometimes 31 32nd notes in one 6/8 bar, how do you quantize them correctly?. thanks

not sure what you mean by 'quantize'
if i come across that many notes in a full 6/8 bar, i fell 'two big beats' so group them accordingly
ie i may pay 15 + 16 , or 16 + 15, or 14 + 17, or  17+14
if you want to build to it, though this is less preferable because we're trying to make the notes fit a subdivision vs. the larger pulse, so you'll interrupt the flow a bit until you go back and fix it,
you can do it as groups of quintuplets and a final sextuplet
i would attempt
5 + 5 + 5   +    5 + 5 + 6  or some combo there of, really doesn't matter where you stick the sexteuplet most of the time. whatever flows better for you.

I often get baffled by people that have questions on pieces at this level.

I naturally assume that a sufficient content is previously covered to ensure confident understanding when it comes to tackling technical difficulties that come with these pieces.

By the way if you're up to measure 74 and you stand a good chance of playing, well done.

Maybe no matter what your 'level' you are always going to come across things you are unsure of.
