Hungarian rhapsody 2 Lassan polyrhythms and fast scales
on: November 22, 2015, 03:12:53 PM
Hi, I was just curious in which measure starts the very difficult part that everyone talks about that has polyrhythms that is present in the Lassan of the Hungarian Rhapsody 2. And also, the scales in measure 24 and measure 61 are meant to be played as fast as possible or how do you measure them to play them?. Thanks a lot

Liszt loved rubato, so you might be able to get away with stretching out the beginning of the run at measure 24, and then accelerating through it until you reached whatever tempo you want to play the run at. Focus on the left hand, since it's keeping time. Otherwise, play the left hand at tempo and match the right hand to it and just keep the pace.

For the one at 61, don't play as fast as possible, start at a pretty reserved tempo and accelerate through it.
I am trying to become Franz Liszt. Trying. And failing.
